*Great New Commercial!
Here’s a great new commercial that addresses pain management! Every year, millions of people take millions of dollars of pain medications to cope with pain. However, is this really necessary? Do they really work? Is there a better option? The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) believes there is! If you like this commercial, please share it with others!
Being a productive member of this world is important. However, sometimes procrastination creeps in and prevents people from “taking action” on the very things they need to get done to be productive each day. Can you relate to this? We can all get better at being more productive and more efficient with how we conduct our behaviors throughout the day. Very often, the things we “need to do” can be some of the most uncomfortable or difficult things we “need to do”. However, these are the same things that definitely need to get done!
The good news is that there is something called the “5-second Rule” that can help you! Here’s the basic premise of this rule: Within “5 seconds” of having a thought, idea, or simple plan of action that comes into your head about what you “need to do”, you MUST then: speak!; write!; schedule!; or act! within 5 seconds. By doing so, you are actually building a neural pathway in your brain that is more in alignment with your goal, which means the chances of following through on it can improve significantly. Basically, the “5-second Rule” helps tie a physical action to a thought! This is the mind-body connection needed for better productivity! The video below discusses this rule in more detail.
*Faux Bolognese Raw Pasta Recipe
If you like pasta, then you are sure to enjoy this scrumptious dish! This is a nice plant-based option to the traditional Bolognese pasta dish that contains some kind of meat.
This dish Serves 2
Ingredients (preferably organic):
- 4 medium zucchini (1 lb / 460 g)
- 4 tomato’s (1 lb / 460 g)
- broccoli (.25 lb / 115 g)
- sun dried tomatoes (1/2 cup / 30 g)
- basil to taste
Directions: Using your chosen method (Chris prefers making thin angel hair noodles with the “Joyce Chen” spiral slicer) prepare the zucchini noodles reserving any extra bits. Squeeze juice from tomatoes (which you can drink, or reserve for a salad dressing) and blend with sun dried tomatoes and basil. Chop broccoli into medium chunks and add to the blender with any zucchini bits pulsing sauce lightly till desired chunkiness. Note: Do not over blend chunks, better with some texture.
*Optional: add a half a cup of mango for a sweeter flavor 🙂

Answer: When it comes to medical care, the emerging field of “functional medicine” appears to be a step in the right direction for sure. I think the principles are sound and it has much more to offer people than traditional allopathic medicine. One of its greatest strengths is that (if practiced correctly) it seeks to remove underlying causes and restore normal function of the body, as opposed to just treating or suppressing symptoms. It also focuses on addressing modifiable lifestyle factors and seeks to empower people to take an active role in their own health. With that said, I think it’s important to make sure that if you choose to work with a functional medicine practitioner, that you find a good one who really understands the principles well and knows how to apply them correctly. They should spend a thorough amount of time with you, which includes taking a very detailed history during the initial assessment process, and also in the development and application of a customized treatment plan of care for you. If this is not the case, I recommend finding another functional medicine practitioner to work with!
