Is “everything in moderation” really okay?

In this motivational health video, Dr. Samuel A. Mielcarski, DPT (aka “The Health Raiser!”) offers some valuable insight about the phrase “everything in moderation” as it pertains to health!

Dr. SAM discusses how “everything in moderation” is a very loose relative term that many people can define and interpret as they wish, which can lead to justifying behavior that is not in alignment with one’s health goals. As such, when “everything in moderation” becomes a ‘daily habit’, it becomes an issue that can negatively impact one’s health.

The next issue about “everything in moderation” is that the world we live in today is not a world of moderation, but rather extremes. Therefore, since we can’t control some of these extremes (such as chemicals, electromagnetic radiation, etc.), it may be in our best interest to avoid adding to these extremes with an “everything in moderation” mindset.

Finally, the idea of “everything in balance”, as opposed to “everything in moderation” may be a better approach to overall health. Balance of the necessary ‘health essentials’ (instead of doing things that impair good health in a “moderate” way) may be what is really needed.

*Will I choose LOVE?

Choose Love- Wellness Newsletter There is no doubt there are some crazy things happening in the world right now! Lots of: conflict, violence, hate, prejudice, and fear! There are many suffering, hurting, and being tortured (and not just people; other species too). However, there is also much LOVE in the world! There are many people opening their hearts; ‘waking up’; and acting compassionately to positively contribute to the world!

So, the question each day we must all ask ourselves is: Will I choose Love? It’s becoming evidently clear to many people what the ancients have known and been teaching for a long time; everything is connected! We are all woven in a fabric of the universe– and the electromagnetic thread that holds it all together is LOVE!

Love is more than a feeling. It’s a frequency; an energy; a choice; and… it’s a conscious way of life. The more you align with love, the more you will see it show up in your life! The more you fill yourself up with love, the more of it you can share with others. Nature is abundant with love– you hear it in the birdsong or the choir of the crickets playing; you feel it in the warmth of the sunshine; and you see it in the artwork laid on the canvas of the sky, the ground, the air, and within the various bodies of water. Love is what unites and connects! If there is ever a war or “battle to win”, it’s the one in our hearts!

Self-love is one of the highest forms of wellness there is. So, take good care of yourself! It matters! It raises the vibration of love on this planet! A LOVE that is omnipresent! So, again, the question each day we must all ask ourselves is: Will I choose Love?

Zen Kitty Chi- Wellness Newsletter

Zen Kitty Chi: Tough day at work, huh? Yeah, well let me just tell you about my day…

First, I snagged one of my nails on the rug! Man, I hate when that happens! Then, if that wasn’t enough, I couldn’t chase down this little ball of dust no matter what I tried. I bit at it; tried to slap it and bat it down out of the air with my paws; and even jumped up like a crazed feline with a full half-twist to snag it, but still no luck! No luck! My precious nap then got interrupted by the other cat. I thought you were going to set the other one straight. Did you forget to have that talk with him?  Oh, and by the way, it was him who peed on the bathroom floor yesterday, not me! (Just sayin!) Well, after my snooze was cut short, I managed to walk up and down the stairs a few times to keep the 4 limbs mobile and strong. Oh yeah, I wanted to inform you that you missed a few of the stairway spindles with the vacuum last week during your housecleaning (Again, just sayin!) After my stair climber workout, I then ran around the house kind of psycho for a few minutes for no apparent reason. However, it is a good H.I.T. (High Intensity Training) Workout regimen.

And, then… I went into my long meditation (you call it staring out the window). Again, the other cat interrupted that too! So, at this point my zen kitty chi was pretty out of balance. So… if I don’t seem like I care about your day, it’s that at this point, I just want to eat! (again for the 6th time today!) Maybe, we can try again tomorrow to meet your needs, okay? I promise I will be more attentive to them, but right about now, I need you to pet me! ALOT!

So, if you’re thinking, what does this have to do with health humor? Laughter is good for health! And… cats are funny!

*Q & A with Dr. SAM

Dr SAM- bio pic- Wellness Newsletter Question: A Wellness Newsletter Reader asks: What’s your opinion on wearable health tracking devices?

Answer: If they actually make you pay more attention to your health, and keep you committed to a healthy lifestyle, they may have some value. However, if all they do is end up stressing you out because it’s just one more piece of technology that you have to keep track of; or the technology itself causes persistent stress because you are sensitive to the radio-frequency and/or electromagnetic pollution these devices may be constantly bombarding your body with, they may not be worth the investment. I have found that many people buy them with good intentions (like many other pieces of equipment), but don’t use them in the long-run. I think a better ‘tracking device’ is a good old fashioned pen and paper. Keeping a health log or journal is often a better option for many people, as it helps them really ‘connect’ to their bodies each day!

Thanks for your question.
