Woodstock Fruit Festival 2017 Update

Over 500 attendees have already registered for Woodstock 2017 representing 15 countries – Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom, 36 states nationwide – Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico

*The “Fruits” of your Labor!

In the “insta-world” we live in, it seems as though many people have lost their patience; and their work ethic! People want things yesterday and they don’t want to have to ‘work’ for anything anymore. Push a button and it’s supposed to be done! Well… some things just take time. Some things take work… hard work!

Nature reminds me of this every time I step out into my garden. Things can only grow so fast. If everything was instant, there would be no “growth process”… and the same goes for life! When we prepare and plan, there are often more things to ‘pick from’ later on!

So, learn to be present; learn to be patient; work hard; and grow each day. It is then, that you may learn to truly enjoy and cherish the “fruits” of your labor!

By the way, if you don’t have a garden yet, get to work! -lol

*Sweet and Savory Berry Soup

Here’s another scrumptious plant-based option to help raise your level of vitality! Packed with nutrition, this scrumptious meal is sure to deliver!

Ingredients: (preferably organic)

  • 6 mandarin oranges (1.25 lb)
  • Mixed Berries (2 lbs)
  • Baby Spinach (0.5-1.0 lb)

Directions: Peel and blend all of the mandarins with 1/3 of the berries and all of the spinach. Place remaining berries in a bowl and pour the “brother” over them. Devour the sweetest green berry dream you’ve ever had!

Dr SAM- bio pic- Wellness Newsletter Question: A Wellness Newsletter Reader asks: “What is your opinion on intermittent fasting?”

Answer:  The practice of “intermittent fasting” can definitely have positive health benefits. When fasting, the body has a chance to “catch up on it’s housecleaning tasks” and thus fix, repair, and regenerate tissues. Energy that would be put into digestion, is now redirected toward the task of ‘healing’ and ‘maintenance’ instead. Fasting is a great way to reset the biorhythms of the body and normalize homeostasis.

I think the biggest key to any type of fasting is to allow your body to guide you as to ‘when’ and ‘how long’ you fast for; as opposed to just deciding to fast for some set period of time on some given day. The reason being is that your body knows best. If you fast, when it is clearly telling you not to, the results can be negative (as you’re going against what your body really wants). Many people violate this rule often.

Overall, many people eat when they should be fasting (such as late at night; or even very early in the morning; or sometimes when very sick). OR, they fast when they should be eating (such as pushing their bodies through stress during normal daylight hours and not taking the time to eat when truly hungry). If one didn’t constantly violate this rule to begin with, the amount of “extra fasting” needed can be minimized.
